Le Mans: Der Mazda 787 B geht wieder auf die Strecke
Das berühmteste Rennen der Welt feiert sein 100-jähriges Jubiläum. Die Veranstalter erinnern während des 24-Stunden-Rennens in Le Mans Ende kommender Woche (10.-11.6.) mit verschiedenen Ausstellungen und Fahrzeugparaden an die Historie. So werden die Siegerfahrzeuge der vergangenen Jahre vom 1. Juni bis zum 2. Juli im Museum von Le Mans in der Nähe des Circuit de la Sarthe ausgestellt. Unter anderem wird der Mazda 787 B am Abend des 9. und 10. Juni an Demonstrationsfahrten auf der Kurzstrecke teilnehmen und vor dem Start des 24-Stunden-Rennens zusammen mit weiteren japanischen Le-Mans-Siegern von Toyota über die gesamte Strecke fahren.
Der von einem Vierscheiben-Kreiskolbenmotor angetriebene Mazda war 1991 der erste japanische Sieger in Le Mans und blieb bis heute der einzige Gewinner mit Wankelmotor. Gefahren wird er von Yojiro Terada, der mit 29 Teilnahmen an Le Mans einen Rekord hält. Auch bei der Le Mans Classic vom 30. Juni bis zum 2. Juli wird der Mazda 787 B teilnehmen.
Während der Rennwoche zur Hundertjahrfeier gibt es auch eine Ausstellung mit dem Thema „Japan Endless Discovery“, die Mazda gemeinsam mit dem japanischen Tourismusverband und Toyota organsiert hat. Neben der Förderung des Tourismus werden japanische Initiativen zur Klimaneutralität vorgestellt. Mazda stellt dabei den MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV mit seriellem Plug-in-Hybridantrieb aus, bei dem ein neu entwickelter Kreiskolbenmotor als elektrischer Generator dient. (aum)
